Job Description Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Mentor and coach new team members as we assign new projects in New Construction.

Remodel design and layout sprinkler systems using specialized CAD software packages based on the AutoCAD platform.

Coordinate sprinkler system piping with other building components and perform hydraulic calculations.

Read and interpret construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and contracts.

Interpret and apply applicable NFPA standards to the design and/or layout of the sprinkler systems according to building type, construction type, hazard classification, and architectural features.

Perform field checks of completed designs to verify accuracy when required.

Work closely with the Estimation Department, Design Manager, and Operations Manager to review the scope sheet and requirements of each project.

Coordinate projects to meet delivery dates.

Communicate with AHJs, contractors, and other trades.

Coordinate with team members for listing of required materials.

Coordinate with team members for permitting and inspection requirements.

Actively participate in pre‑design and review meetings.

Identify opportunities for cost‑saving measures and quality improvements.

Adhere to company safety policies and procedures to ensure all duties are performed in a safe and professional manner.

Provide outstanding customer service.

Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge

High School diploma or GED required.

Experience designing fire sprinkler systems required.

NICET Level I – IV certification preferred.

RME‑G a plus.

Work Experience

Minimum 5 years of Fire Protection Design experience or a Fire Sprinkler Design degree.

Skills and Competencies

Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; HydraCAD preferred.

Ability to visualize 3‑D concepts and solve basic mathematical problems, including geometry and algebra.

Proficient in interpreting and applying applicable NFPA standards and in reading construction documents.

Experience with a variety of system types and manufacturers.

Strong knowledge of industry codes such as IFC, NFPA, IBC, and NEC.

Ability to read and interpret architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawings.

Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records.

Ability to work in a fast‑paced service/construction team environment.

Attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Ability to travel as needed.

Licenses Must obtain and retain any licenses required by national, state/province, and local codes.

Physical Requirements

75% office setting (sitting, some bending, modest lifting, walking, and viewing).

25% driving.
