This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Mckinney, 307 Miller Rd. Maudling, SC 29053.
As the Direct Support Professional I, under general supervision of the Administrator, you will assist in the therapeutic care to residents of the Community Residential Care Facility (CRCF), operated by the OMH CRCF Services. You will also assist and instruct residents in the needs of daily living, ex. cooking, cleaning, budget planning, etc. Assist treatment team in therapeutic and rehabilitative activities.
Responsibilities for the Direct Support Professional I:
Adhere to SCOMH and DHEC written rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Ensure the health and safety of individuals with mental illness. Provide direct hands-on individual care. Provide guidance to residents in the development of activities of daily living skills to include, but not limited to brushing of teeth, bathing, hair care, manicuring, dressing, and toileting. Engage residents in daily group activities. Complete all required documentation in compliance with policy and procedures. Assist residents in medication, administration, and compliance. Assist in the transportation and monitoring of residents during all medical appointments, community programs, and activities. Obtain documentation of appointments that are given after clinical PCP appointments provided to CRCF to ensure medical and physical compliance. Perform CRCF cleaning duties to include but not limited to sweeping/mopping, cleaning the kitchen and bathrooms, dusting, etc. Assist in the preparation of residents' meals as needed. A high school diploma or GED. Additional Requirements:
Have valid driver's license and ability to drive a state vehicle. Ability to work rotational shifts. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to lift up to twenty (20) pounds; ability to see, hear at normal volumes, stand, walk, reach, pull, stoop, and bend. Must have physical ability to work with individuals that may be physically aggressive, mentally unstable, or medically fragile. Must be able to work in a residential facility or assisted living home. Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus. Post hire, employees must:
