POSITION SUMMARY

Under direction of the Marketing Manager, the Senior Graphic Designer is responsible for leading and supervising the design and production of marketing materials for Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op (SNFC) consistent with our brand. This position creates digital, print, and other materials, installs those materials and supports store marketing functions to help achieve our strategic objectives. The position is responsible for managing the creation of visual marketing to meet the Co-op’s business objectives and in a manner that upholds the values of Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op and the cooperative identity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Upholds all Co-op policies, procedures and expectations.

Visual Branding and Messaging

Manage the creation of the visual identity of the Co-op’s brand to meet the marketing strategies set by the Marketing Manager.

Conceptualize, design and produce marketing material including in-store signage, digital content, and promotional materials.

Collaborate with, supervise, and delegate the work of department staff.

Provide input and feedback to management for ways to better support and meet business objectives through branding.

Coordinate production of marketing materials performed by outside vendors, including securing bids that meet the expectations set by the Marketing Manager.

Maintain ongoing awareness of and update promotional material organization-wide ensuring intended user experience.

Ensure all print and digital production materials meet SNFC brand standards and address variances as needed.

Research and remain current on emerging design trends and processes to strengthen the Co‑Op’s visual/brand identity. .

Promptly respond to and prioritize department requests consistent with department goals.

Participate in promotional events on‑and off‑site as directed.

Employee Management and Development

Establishes clear expectations for direct reports with a means to hold each other accountable to ensure expectations are met.

Interviews and hires employees according to SNFC’s procedures.

Establishes procedures to ensure proper administration of department programs.

Conducts regular performance evaluations and creates training and development opportunities that enhance the employee’s abilities and builds upon their skills, knowledge and abilities

Supervises work performance and conduct of personnel and upholds SNFC’s performance management practices of offering progressive corrective action and staff recognition as needed and in accordance with Co‑Op policies, procedures, and legal guidelines.

Facilitates regular team and/or department meetings.

Models behaviors that support the values of Sacramento Natural Foods Co‑Op, through supportive and participatory leadership practices, promoting cooperative team building and motivating staff to achieve goals.

Safety and Security

Ensures that all department personnel learn and use safe practices per SNFC’s Accident Prevention Program and addresses safety and security concerns promptly.

Supports SNFC’s security and safety protocols and establishes strong departmental control measures.

Maintains equipment in working order; researches and recommends equipment repair and replacement options as needed.

Other Duties

Provide prompt and accurate administrative assistance to the department.

Maintain department files, records, and electronic databases.

Coordinate special projects as assigned.

Assist with training as assigned.

Attend meetings and events as requested.

Demonstrate support for the cooperative values and principles daily.

Compile information and contributes to reports as needed.

Perform other duties and work in other departments as assigned.

Must be available to work hours based on the needs of the business and their department.

Requirements

Required Experience

Customer Service experience.

Regulatory Requirement

Maintain and update as needed California Food Handler’s Certification.

Language Ability

Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.

Communicate effectively and respectfully in oral or written form to staff and customers of diverse backgrounds.

Effectively present information in one‑to‑one and small group situations to customers and other employees.

Math Ability

Add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s mentally.

Perform these operations using units of U.S. currency and weight measurement, volume and distance.

Reasoning Ability

Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.

Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Prioritize work tasks, multi‑task, and maintain focus.

Operational Equipment Skills

Operate a forklift.

Operate an electric stacker.

Operate a pallet jack.

Operate a cardboard baler and a compactor.

Operate a hand truck and other equipment carts.

Computer Skills

Use Microsoft Word, Excel, Email, website and time clock software proficiently.

Education and Certifications

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Desired knowledge, skills, ability and experience are not essential to be able to perform the essential duties of the position.

1+ years of experience in customer service

1+ years experience in retail

Previous food handling experience

Available to work mornings, nights, weekends, and occasionally overnight shifts
