Learn About a Day in the Life of a PCT Perform PCT II duties under limited supervision, assist patients with daily activities, monitor and record vital signs, transport and housekeeping duties, measure intake/output, perform technical procedures such as feeding tube, catheter administration, sutures, splinting, ECGs, and coordinate daily unit activities.
Responsibilities
Perform all PCT II duties: assist patients with bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs.
Observe patients’ progress, prepare and disseminate reports to nursing or medical staff; obtain and record vitals and collect specimens.
Provide basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
Measure and record intake and output; assist with range‑of‑motion exercises; draw blood.
Assist in treatments to patients, perform technical procedures such as feeding tube and catheter administration, suture/staple removal, splinting, and ECGs.
Coordinate daily activities for assigned unit, provide clerical/administrative support and participate in performance‑improvement activities.
Qualifications
High‑school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of approved CNA or PCT certification program; or senior nursing student with less than one semester remaining.
Active certification in the State of Kansas.
Obtain BLS certification within 14 days of hire.
Competent in at least two general practice areas (cross‑trained).
Preferred Qualifications
5 years of experience in acute or long‑term care settings.
Proficiency in phlebotomy.
