Required Qualifications
Minimum one year of recent experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist
Valid ARRT or RCIS/RCES certification in compliance with state regulations
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA/ARC)
Preferred Qualifications
Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (AHA/ARC)
Valid Radiologic Technologist license in compliance with state regulations
Preschool Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Endoscopic Navigational Procedure Course (ENPC) certification
Any additional certifications or licenses required for the position
Job Summary The Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist assists physicians in performing minimally invasive procedures using advanced imaging technology. Responsibilities include preparing patients and equipment, operating fluoroscopic and other imaging modalities, and ensuring patient safety in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment.
Essential Work Functions
Prepare and position patients for interventional radiology procedures, ensuring comfort and safety
Operate imaging equipment such as fluoroscopy, CT, and ultrasound to guide procedures
Assist physicians by scrubbing in for sterile procedures, passing instruments, and maintaining a sterile field
Monitor and document patient vital signs and procedural details
Administer contrast media and monitor for adverse reactions
Ensure proper radiation safety measures for patients, staff, and self
Maintain and troubleshoot imaging equipment, ensuring readiness for procedures
Manage and restock procedural supplies, including catheters, guidewires, and contrast agents
Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and other team members to provide seamless patient care
Follow all infection control, safety, and regulatory protocols
Provide patient education before, during, and after procedures
Perform other duties as assigned to support IR lab operations
Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Required Essential Skills
Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication skills
Proficiency in reading, writing, and verbal communication in English
Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
Physical capability to remain stationary, move equipment (50–100 lb), push, pull, and bend
Professionalism and positive attitude when working with various personnel
Fine manipulation and motor skills for assisting with procedures and using department equipment
Ability to cope with frequent public contact and meet deadlines under pressure; work under supervision or independently as required
Visual acuity and effective communication skills
