Maintenance Worker – Archdiocese of San Antonio
Schedule: 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday–Friday, with after‑hours, weekends, and evenings as needed.
Reports To: Facility Manager
FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt, Full‑Time
Summary : The Maintenance Worker for the Pastoral Ministry Center is responsible for providing general maintenance and basic repairs in a professional manner that assures safety, efficiency, and adherence to procedures.
Position Responsibilities
Inspect all buildings and facilities, identify deficiencies, and initiate maintenance, repairs, or custodial activities.
Complete custodial tasks at assigned sites, including removing trash and cleaning toilets, counters, floors, windows, etc.
Move furniture, boxes, equipment, and other heavy materials.
Transport various items to and from offsite locations.
Complete all assigned work orders in a timely, efficient, and satisfactory manner.
Perform a variety of tasks in maintenance and alterations of landscape, including mowing, weeding, trimming, spreading mulch, and trash pickup.
Ensure the proper function of the irrigation system and ensure compliance with government regulations.
Set up and break down tables, chairs, and equipment in conference rooms and atrium according to user needs.
Respond to after‑hours emergencies.
Provide superior customer service to all stakeholders including bishops, employees, team members, and the public.
Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing; operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
Complete repairs or general maintenance at assigned sites, including minor carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, glazier, and masonry.
Schedule, assist, and monitor independent contractors, and provide building access to contractors during after‑hours maintenance or repair activities.
Maintain security of the campus buildings by ensuring the proper function of doors, checking door and window status, and responding to after‑hours alarm calls; follow established procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities.
Protect confidentiality of sensitive information obtained in the service with the organization.
Adhere to the Code of Conduct, Faith, and Moral standards.
Approach all interactions and undertakings in a solution‑oriented manner, promoting collaboration and commitment to the mission and vision of the organization.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in building custodial or maintenance related work.
License and Credentials
Reliable transportation.
Valid driver license.
Valid vehicle insurance.
Minimum Knowledge and Skills
Working knowledge of general maintenance and custodial tools.
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals/supplies and equipment use.
Understanding of safety hazards and proper use of cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
Detail oriented, organized, self‑motivated, works well independently and on a team.
Good written and verbal skills.
Good critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Travel Requirements Local travel 15%, no overnight travel.
