Job Details Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Project Accountant to support project-level accounting and financial reporting in a fast‑paced, project-driven environment. This role is central to maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month‑end close, and providing meaningful financial insights across active development initiatives.

Must Have
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
4+ years of progressive accounting experience
Strong understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles
Experience with journal entries, account reconciliations, month‑end close, and financial statement preparation
Proven ability to perform budget‑to‑actual analysis and explain financial variances
Preferred
Experience in project-based, construction, or development accounting environments
Exposure to cost tracking, project budgeting, or funding/draw processes
Experience working with accounting or project management software
Familiarity with audit support or compliance-driven reporting
What You’ll Do
Own Project Accounting: Manage day‑to‑day accounting for assigned projects, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger accuracy.
Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and review monthly financial statements and project reports, identifying variances, trends, and items requiring follow‑up.
Budget‑to‑Actual Analysis: Track project costs against budgets, investigate discrepancies, and clearly explain changes in financial results.
Month‑End Close Support: Prepare accruals, understand timing differences, and ensure project activity is properly reflected in financial statements.
Cost & Expenditure Tracking: Monitor project spend, identify inconsistencies, and support accurate cost allocation.
Funding & Compliance Support: Assist with project funding oversight, including preparation of draw requests and compliance with loan or funding requirements.
Documentation & Audit Support: Maintain organized financial records and assist with audits by preparing schedules and explanations.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Communicate with internal teams, vendors, and external partners regarding project‑related accounting matters.
Process Improvement: Support continuous improvement of accounting workflows, reporting processes, and project financial controls.
