Position Description:
Budget Analyst support is needed for the Office of the Chief Financial Officer, Project Support Office (RS60) to support the Science and Technology Office (ST).
This position is located in Huntsville, Alabama.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Serve as a étrangling budget analyst for the Planetary Missions Program Office (ST30)
Provide strategic budget analysis investigating financial data to give decision makers crucial information, ideas, solutions and options for effective planning and execution of the budget
Utilize financial systems to prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reports and effectively communicate and present budget and workforce status to program management, center management, and HQ customers on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
Monitor and track budgets including preparing phasing plans, PPBE submits, and cost analyses
Review, analyze, and present budget and workforce status including detailed variance explanations with impacts and solutions
Analyze and monitor contract funding status
Rely on extensive experience and judgment to coordinate business activities, make decisions, plan and accomplish goals; work independently, with minimal guidance
Must multi‑task and prioritize work from multiple customers, meeting or exceeding deadlines
Must possess excellent communication skills and communicate effectively in writing, person to person and in meetings
Must possess excellent interpersonal and analytical skills, work independently, and maintain confidentiality of data
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
Proficient MS Office Applications
Advanced knowledge of Excel
Advanced knowledge of PowerPoint
Familiar with Power BI
Knowledge & understanding of automated financial systems and budgetary report generation
BS/BA plus 6 years or greater of specialized experience in the field or a related area. HS Diploma plus 8 years or greater of specialized experience in the field or a related area.
Highly Preferred:
SAP and Business Objects (BOBJ) or other government accounting systems
Government Financial Processes
Knowledge and understanding of government budget process and systems – a plus
Experience as a budget analyst for a government agency – a plus

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licences and certifications. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $62,900.00‑$139,300.00.
