Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated Utility Maintenance Specialist to join our team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining essential utility systems, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in utility maintenance, excellent problem‑solving skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Responsibilities

Repairs, replaces, and installs water lines, valves, air releases, and sewer lines. Installs and replaces old water and sewer lines. Makes water and sewer taps, installs manholes and fire hydrants and performs maintenance and repairs.

Operates utility/dump truck, compressor, hydraulic hammer, gopher, tapping machine, water pump, boring machine, pipe bevel machine, and other machinery.

Constructs buildings and performs carpentry work such as remodeling, building cabinets, fences, and offices.

Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (must obtain TX driver’s license within 90 days).

Possess a valid Class "A" Texas Commercial Driver's License with the endorsements of air brakes, cargo, and combination within six months of date in position.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities – Level Requirements

Entry Level : Ability to pass all pre‑employment qualifications. Little or no experience.

Level I : Six months’ experience. Pass entry‑level tests and/or qualifications. Complete one required TEEX course (20 hours) for TCEQ Licenses.

Level II : One year experience. Pass all previous level tests or qualifications. Complete one additional required TEEX course (20 hours) for TCEQ Licenses.

Level III : Eighteen months’ experience. Pass all previous level tests or qualifications. Complete two additional required TEEX courses (40 hours) for TCEQ Licenses.

Level IV : Two plus years’ experience. Pass all previous level tests or qualifications. Complete two additional required TEEX courses (40 hours) for TCEQ Licenses.

Compliance and Work Conditions

Attendance is an essential function of this position. The City reserves the right to require overtime.

This position provides services or performs duties for the benefit of the general public during emergency situations. These may include services or duties different from those performed in the usual course and scope of your job.

Physical demands: Very Heavy Work – Exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly.
