Role Overview
This position focuses on producing precise technical drawings and design plans to support engineering and manufacturing activities. It also involves managing documentation for Engineering Change Notices and ensuring smooth process workflows. The CAD Designer collaborates with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver accurate, standards‑compliant designs. Success in this role requires strong CAD software skills, solid drafting knowledge, and familiarity with engineering principles.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure documents are accurate, clear, and consistently formatted.
Implement and maintain document control practices, including version tracking and distribution.
Work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
Partner with engineering, product management, operations, and quality teams to align on project goals.
Create and update drawings, models, and related design materials.
Utilize CAD tools to develop detailed technical designs.
Review and refine designs to optimize manufacturing efficiency.
Produce assembly and installation instructions based on design outputs.
Keep design records current and organized.
Participate in planning sessions and contribute to design discussions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Skilled in using Microsoft Office applications and document control tools.
Strong organizational abilities with effective time management.
Capable of prioritizing multiple tasks and meeting tight deadlines.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all deliverables.
Clear and professional communication skills, both written and spoken.
Hands‑on experience with 3D CAD modeling software (Creo experience is a plus).
Solid understanding of drafting principles and applied mathematics.
Comfortable working independently as well as in collaborative team settings.
Minimum of two years in a design drafting or comparable technical role.
Ability to communicate effectively in cross‑functional environments.
Familiarity with engineering workflows and manufacturing practices.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
Associate or bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Mankato, MN.
Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $60,000.00 - $90,000.00/yr.
