We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Sustainability Manager – North America to

help advance our sustainability goals, ensuring our products and operations reflect the

highest environmental and social standards in the industry.

Position Overview

Implement and adapt Novalis’ global sustainability strategy within North America to meet corporate targets for environmental and social impact reduction.

Embed circular thinking (cradle-to-cradle principles) into all stages of product design, production, and marketing.

Translate regulatory requirements and global standards into actionable product and operational requirements for the North American business.

Work closely with the Global Sustainability Manager to align data collection, reporting, and initiatives with global frameworks.

Partner with Product Management and R&D during the discovery phase to provide U.S. sustainability market insights, compliance information, and sustainability criteria for

Support the testing, evaluation, and certification of new products during the

Screen new primary and secondary raw materials for compliance with U.S. environmental regulations and Novalis sustainability guidelines.

Challenge R&D to explore alternative and recycled materials, and continuously improve product circularity and recyclability.

Operations, Data & Reporting

Coordinate data collection and evaluation for the annual corporate sustainability report, aligning with GRI, SASB, and ESRS standards.

Analyze North American supply chain activities to identify opportunities for increased resource efficiency and reduced environmental impact.

Manage and maintain sustainability databases and cloud storage systems for internal reporting and transparency.

Analyze our waste streams and work on waste reduction schemes to divert production and packaging waste from landfill and incineration.

Certifications & Compliance

Oversee and maintain product certifications (e.g., FloorScore, Greenguard, EPD, HPD, Declare) and site certifications (e.g, ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 50001) for North American operations.

Support customers and stakeholders in meeting green building standards such as LEED and WELL.

Ensure continuous compliance with all North American environmental and sustainability regulations.

Employee & Customer Engagement

Provide sustainability training for Novalis employees to foster awareness and ownership of sustainability initiatives.

Represent Novalis in customer meetings, industry events, and sustainability forums as a credible, professional voice for our environmental commitment.

Offer sustainability support to North American operations and customers as needed, serving as a key contact for sustainability-related inquiries.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or related field.

Minimum 5 years of sustainability or environmental management experience, preferably within the flooring, building materials, or manufacturing industry.

Knowledge of green building certification systems (LEED, WELL, etc.) and environmental labeling systems (EPD, HPD, Declare, etc.).

Proven experience with LCA methodologies, data collection for GRI/SASB/ESRS, and corporate sustainability reporting.

Strong understanding of circular economy principles and product stewardship.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with confidence presenting to customers, leadership, and cross-functional teams.

Preferred certifications: LEED AP, WELL AP, or equivalent sustainability accreditation.
