Position Overview The
Lead Teacher
is responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising a high-quality, developmentally appropriate classroom experience. This role provides instructional leadership, ensures compliance with licensing and program frameworks, and supports positive behavior, school readiness, and family engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and implement weekly lesson plans aligned with the curriculum and children’s interests
Create and maintain a safe, engaging, and organized classroom environment
Conduct child observations, assessments, and required documentation
Lead and support Assistant Teachers and Classroom Aides
Use positive behavior guidance, including trauma-informed practices
Maintain regular communication with families (daily updates, conferences, home visits)
Ensure compliance with Missouri licensing requirements and RHDS policies
Participate in professional development and team meetings
Required Qualifications
Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
Child Development Associate (CDA) credential
Minimum 1 year of experience in a licensed early childhood setting
Infant/Child CPR & First Aid certification
Background check, TB test, physical clearance, and Food Handlers Permit
Preferred
Experience with DRDP, CLASS, or Head Start frameworks
Training in Conscious Discipline or trauma-informed care
Bilingual (Spanish/English)
Supervisory or mentoring experience
