Join a high‑impact team as a Junior Network Administrator (P1) at Raytheon/RTX in Tucson, AZ. You will maintain and support classified voice and data network infrastructure, ensuring smooth operations of hardware and software, documenting configurations, monitoring performance, and coordinating with vendors. The role requires a U.S. citizen with a current Secret security clearance and offers training to obtain Security+ and CCNA certifications.

What you will Do

Maintain smooth operation of voice and data networks. Plan, evaluate, coordinate, and perform installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication networks.

Develop technical expertise in all areas of voice and data network hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as switches, routers, firewalls, authentication servers, encryptors, etc.

Work with network management software platforms.

Propose solutions to management to ensure all communication requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings, redundancy, and required network uptime.

Prepare or ensure that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions, technical diagrams, and other documentation. Where no documentation exists, assist in developing documentation.

Provide regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in‑house systems.

Assist with coordination of third‑party maintenance for network equipment or with vendors for third‑party support.

Be willing and available to work outside normal business hours (evenings and weekends) as needed.

Work with general supervision and follow established procedures.

Obtain Security+ certification within 6 months and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) within a year. Raytheon will provide training to achieve this.

Qualifications You Must Have

Typically requires a university/bachelor’s degree with less than 2 years of relevant experience, or a minimum 4 years of relevant Network or IT Systems Administration experience.

Experience with networking equipment such as Cisco (or other products) routers, switches, firewalls, and/or intrusion detection systems, including software upgrades.

Active and transferable U.S. government‑issued security clearance is required prior to start date; U.S. citizenship is required.

Qualifications We Prefer

Preferred someone with Cisco ISE experience with 802.1X, SolarWinds, and setting up client‑server environments for government networks.

Security+ and/or CCNA certifications currently active.

Experience with current cabling and fiber standards.

Experience with access control lists, security posture, and vendor best practices.

Experience with Visio diagramming and design capabilities.

1‑2 years of experience with network management software.

Willingness and availability to travel domestically as needed.

Knowledge of configuration and troubleshooting of encryption devices.

Effective customer service skills, including oral and written communications.

Experience with platforms such as IP telephony, NTP servers, GemOne, and SolarWinds.

Ability to work under time constraints.

Experience with classified computing, STIG compliance, and network refreshes.

Current DoD Top Secret level security clearance.

Clearance Information: This position requires a current & active U.S. security clearance. The Department of Defense, through DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA CAS), handles the security clearance process.

Salary range: $57,200 – $108,800 USD. Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays, depending on the business unit and collective‑bargaining agreement.
