Employee will be assigned to work in the following counties: Florence, Marion, Williamsburg, and Georgetown and may be assignedaine to workany area in the state as needed.

Responsibilities of the Dealer Auditor

Establishes and maintains a current list of assigned entities. Ensures assigned entities are audited or inspected with required frequency. Conducts audits and/or inspects motor vehicle dealers, wholesalers, auto auctions, transporters, driver training schools, and third‑party testers to verify compliance with state laws, regulations, and department policies. Conducts or assists with audits and investigations outside of assigned entities when needed.

Investigates complaints/offenses involving motor vehicle dealers, wholesalers, auctions, and transporters. Initiates requests for sanctions and/or assistance to SLED or other agencies. Attends court/hearings as required or requested.

Serves as a subject‑matter expert for dealer licensing. Educates dealership owners, management, or officers on program requirements. Responds to inquiries from dealers, the public, customers, colleagues, and other agencies.

Conducts pre‑inspections, initial inspections, and follow‑up inspections of dealer license applicants/licensees, driver training schools, and third‑party testers. Conducts vehicle inspections for driver training schools and third‑party polar testers. Conducts various VIN inspections. Administers written tests to new and renewal applicants for Driver Training Instructor Certification.

Performs various administrative duties. Maintains vehicle, computer, and other equipment.

Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisors.

Completes or assists with special projects as assigned. Attends training and staff meetings as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

A high school diploma and relevant work experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required work experience.

Agency Requirements

Must complete a nationwide criminal background check to include fingerprinting.

Employee must have and maintain a valid SC driver's license.

Additional Requirements

Employee must be knowledgeable of the laws, rules, טעג · regulations, standards, principles, practices and techniques related to dealer licensing and audits.

Employee must have the ability to conduct investigations, analyze facts, and reach sound conclusions.

Employee must have the ability to present clear, concise and comprehensive oral and written reports.

Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.

Employee must be proficient with personal computers including Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Access and Outlook).

Employee receives guidance from supervisor/team lead but generally works independently and has the latitude for independent decision‑making.

The assigned work area is Florence, Marion, Williamsburg, and Georgetown counties but may be assigned to work any area in the state as needed.

This position is subject to overnight statewide travel.

Normal work hours are M‑F 8:30 am–5:00 pm but may require working outside normal hours and swims on weekends.

Agency Preferred

A high school diploma and two (2) years’ work experience that is directly related to the area of employment.

Preferred applicant will reside in Florence County, but other applicants may be considered.
