Mechatronics Junior Technician Apprentice – JLL
Overview
As a Mechatronics Junior Technician Apprentice, you will learn to perform the work of a Mechatronics Junior Technician, installing, altering, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electronic, mechanical, computer, control, and robotics/automation equipment, systems, and components in a complex fulfillment/distribution center through a comprehensive classroom, laboratory, and on‑the‑job learning program. Training includes strict adherence to health and safety policies.
Responsibilities
Follow work processes closely at school and on the shop floor to ensure a safe environment while job shadowing with technical advisors.
Communicate and work well within a team environment both in school and on the shop floor.
Use technical documentation and computers to support maintenance activities.
Operate material transfer conveyors, PLCs, and robotic systems under guidance of experienced technical advisors and automation engineers.
Assist in troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of mechatronic systems, applying predictive and preventive maintenance techniques.
Analyze technical specifications and coordinate installation or maintenance efforts with other technicians.
Maintain system performance, communicate with machine operators, and enforce safety standards.
Required Qualifications
18 years old or older with a high school diploma or GED.
Must meet the minimum qualifying score on a Mechanical Aptitude Test.
Ability to travel to attend training at one of three training sites in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina or Texas for 12 weeks.
Basic computer skills (email, word processing, spreadsheets, internet).
Basic troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Qualifications
1+ year of experience in basic preventive/predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial machines.
1+ year of experience in mechanical and/or electrical basic components.
1+ year of experience with compressors and pneumatics.
Physical Demands
Repetitive bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, twisting, sitting, standing, and walking.
Lifting parts and tools averaging 20 lbs, occasionally up to 49 lbs.
Eye/hand coordination, foot pedal use, wrist motion, and manual dexterity.
Working conditions that may include small spaces, dust, fumes, hot/cold temperatures, noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long periods, wet or uneven surfaces.
Standing/walking on concrete surfaces for 10+ hour shifts.
Operating in cramped positions under or behind machinery, at heights.
Pushing/pulling wheeled equipment and carts up to 100+ lbs.
Maneuvering awkward or bulky equipment parts.
