OPPORTUNITY STATEMENT Reporting to the Senior Accountant, this role will be responsible for the School’s Accounts Receivable function, including coordinating the School’s tuition and supplemental billing and accounts receivable systems, cash receipts, donations, and other general accounting functions.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES General Accounting Responsibilities

Manage daily cash and banking operations, including monitoring cash balances and initiating all necessary transfers and wires.

Perform monthly reconciliations for all bank accounts, receivable accounts, and various revenue streams, including tuition, student store sales, and donations.

Ensure the integrity of key financial data by reconciling donations and tuition tracking with the School’s primary financial systems.

Oversee the full accounting cycle for pledges, including quarterly reconciliation and year-end adjustments for financial reporting.

Assist in the completion of annual school surveys.

Track and record deferred summer school revenue.

Responsible for adjusting discount and allowance for pledges receivable at year-end.

Responsible for all year-end tuition journal entries necessary for financial statement presentation purposes.

Process all cash receipts, including preparation of electronic deposits and cash receipts journals.

Support in preparation of annual financial statement audit (interim and final fieldwork).

Assist the Business Office with other projects as necessary.

Tuition and Supplemental Billing

Coordinate and process all aspects of tuition and supplemental billing and collections using Blackbaud/Tuition Management.

Reconcile the student billing system to the general ledger monthly.

Respond to parent inquiries.

Review and follow up on delinquent accounts monthly.

Coordinate financial aid reimbursements to families for non-tuition expenses.

Responsible for setting financial aid committee meetings before the enrollment/financial aid season.

Respond promptly to parent inquiries regarding student enrollment contracts, financial aid, and general questions.

Follow up with parents for missing financial aid application information.

Assist in various other ad hoc enrollment/financial aid tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance.

Minimum of 4–5 years of experience in accounting and finance, preferably in a Non‑Profit organization or Independent School.

Experience using finance software, including Blackbaud Financial Edge preferred.

Detail oriented, well-organized, flexible, and collaborative individual who enjoys working in a team-driven environment.

Able to multitask in a fast‑paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining a customer service focus.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word, and G‑suite.
