Senior Paralegal – Mercy Health Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40; Work Shift: Days (United States)

Job Summary As a member of the BSMH Legal Network, the Senior Paralegal serves two primary roles: (1) Paralegal subject matter expert (SME) for the legal network, including guidance on GPO and supply chain matters; and (2) support for attorneys in one or more markets and/or functions. The position works directly with attorneys, paralegals, and others to realize shared goals, interface with operational and support services leadership, internal clients, and external parties, and make recommendations on work plans and solutions. The role requires effective organizational, planning, problem‑solving, multitasking, technology, analytical, judgment, and leadership skills under the supervision of an attorney.

Responsibilities

Review, draft, negotiate, and manage high‑volume agreements, correspondence, memoranda, policies, and other communications for assigned legal matters within short deadlines.

Maintain a repository of template agreements and standard documents across multiple platforms (e.g., Conga, Service‑Now, Symplr/Meditract, iManage).

Monitor intake via email and system, triage work to the appropriate attorney or team member, and coordinate follow‑ups.

Gather facts, arrange requested documents, provide summaries, and conduct research on relevant laws, regulations, and legal articles for attorney needs.

Backup or support other paralegals and attorneys as needed, ensuring continuity of work.

Travel to attend legal network gatherings and retreats at least twice per year.

Serve as Paralegal SME Lead or Consultant: develop and implement standard templates and processes, collaborate with attorneys, and drive improvements in legal workflow.

Own and lead implementation of change initiatives and deliver educational training tailored to business needs.

Complete 12 hours of continuing legal education annually, focusing on relevant practice areas or general professional development.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in paralegal studies or a related field. Prior paralegal experience may substitute for education.

Certification

Paralegal certification or degree (preferred)

Notary Public License (preferred)

Experience

Minimum five years directly applicable work experience in a GPO company, supply chain department, law firm, corporate department, healthcare legal department, or other related department (required).

Experience working directly with GPO and supply chain contracts highly preferred.
