Position Specifications Penn State Schuylkill is seeking a dedicated
Athletic Trainer
to provide athletic training services to physically active individuals within the university in accordance with the Pennsylvania Practice Act. The role involves emergency care, injury prevention programs, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation under the direction of a licensed physician.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with team physicians to prevent, diagnose, and treat emergency, acute, and chronic medical conditions.
Determine treatment/rehabilitation for athletic injuries/illnesses and assess athletes' readiness to participate.
Supervise, implement, and review injury prevention and performance enhancement programs for intercollegiate teams and club sports.
Provide athletic training services for games, practices, and strength and conditioning sessions.
Research current treatment methods and oversee adherence to required certifications and staff continuing education.
Serve as an educational resource for Sports Medicine and Athletic Training matters.
Perform health care administration: maintain medical records, schedule appointments, and coordinate with health care professionals and athletic staff.
Recognize and monitor mental health, nutrition, and other health issues; refer to appropriate professionals when needed.
Assist in education and supervision of Graduate Student Athletic Trainers.
Oversee and coordinate student athlete entrance and exit physicals.
Contribute to creating a healthy, safe, equitable, and inclusive environment for student-athletes.
May supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management.
Minimum Education, Work Experience & Required Certifications
Athletic Trainer – Advanced Professional
Master’s Degree with 3+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent.
Certifications: Licensed Athletic Trainer – Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine; Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) – NATA; CPR – American Red Cross/ American Heart Association; AED – American Red Cross/ American Heart Association.
Athletic Trainer – Intermediate Professional
Bachelor’s Degree with 1+ years of relevant experience.
Certifications: AED – American Red Cross/ American Heart Association; CPR – American Red Cross/ American Heart Association; ATC – NATA; Licensed Athletic Trainer – Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine.
Background Checks/Clearances This position requires a PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. A valid driver’s license and motor vehicle records check are also required.
Salary & Benefits Salary range: $42,100.00 – $67,300.00, inclusive of all possible grades. Penn State offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, retirement plans, paid time off, and a 75% tuition discount for employees, spouses, and children.
