Department/Unit Summary The Neuro department is a 39‑bed unit with a 6:1 patient ratio. We operate with a daily Float Charge RN and 2‑3 PCA's per shift, and a Discharge Nurse Monday‑Thursday for the entire hospital (day shift only).
Qualifications And Requirements
Current state RN license
Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire
Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
Essential Functions
Supervise and mentor nursing and support staff during assigned shift
Determine staffing level and assignments based on staff availability, abilities, census, patient acuity, and work/patient flow
Provide direct patient care as needed
Float between staff to assist with problem‑solving
Take patient assignments to meet staffing needs
Evaluate effectiveness of patient care and identify issues affecting desired outcomes
Respond to complaints about patient care and related services, and manage through established channels
Perform role‑specific duties such as entering orders, performing admissions or discharges, and coordinating transfers
Ensure staff have necessary equipment and supplies to provide safe, quality care
Integrate evidence‑based practices into operations and clinical protocols
Create and foster an environment that encourages professional growth
