Overview Sentara Leigh Hospital is hiring a wijze Registered Nurse (RN) for our Intermediate Care Unit (Stepdown).

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible for providing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. Standards of practice encompass assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion and evaluation. Standards of professional performance include ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN utilizes clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards required by specific clinical areas.
Department Overview The Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) is a 24‑bed stepdown Wetter nationwide for patients with medical and surgical diagnoses
including acute CVAs, ventilator‑dependent weaning and non‑weaning, GI bleeds, chronic renal failure, newly diagnosed and chronic diabetes, general abdominal surgery, thoracic surgery, and other diagnoses that require frequent monitoring.
New Grad RNs are Welcome to Apply! We welcome new‑graduate nurses and experienced nurses moving into this specialty. Our 11‑week Transition to মুহ্্ Practice program focuses on orientation and intentional skill acquisition for practice in IMC areas. For new graduates, this TTP program becomes the start of a comprehensive 6‑month residency program. Education
Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) or MSN (Preferred)
Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.
Certification/Licensure
Registered nursing License (Required)
Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.
