What You’ll Do As Camp Nurse, you’ll play a vital role in keeping campers and staff safe, healthy, and supported throughout their summer experience. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Providing first aid and emergency care for injuries or illnesses, ensuring the well‑being of campers and staff
Administering medications in accordance with camper health plans, keeping detailed documentation of dosages and administration times
Maintaining accurate medical records in adherence to state and local health regulations, including health documentation, incident reports, and medication administration logs, organized in compliance with HIPAA guidelines of confidentiality
Collaborating with the Site Director, Office Manager, and Assistant Directors to develop and refine pre‑camp health processes, ensuring compliance with state and site regulations, plus coordinating care plans, communicating health updates, and ensuring all staff understand health center procedures throughout summer
Providing compassionate emotional support to campers and staff as part of overall health and wellness care, identifying when additional behavioral or mental health support may be needed and communicating to leadership
Educating staff on basic health protocols, including first aid, sun safety, and emergency procedures
Communicating with parents about camper health concerns, incidents, and medication requirements
Ensuring the infirmary is well‑stocked with necessary medical supplies, communicating inventory needs to onsite leadership in a timely manner; taking ownership of establishing procedures, documentation systems, and readiness standards that support an efficient and compliant Health Center
Conducting health screenings and overseeing allergy and dietary needs
What Makes You a Great Fit
Passionate about health – Knowledgeable in safety, wellness, and child health standards (physical and emotional)
Strong critical‑thinking skills – Proven ability to handle emergencies while maintaining a safe and encouraging atmosphere for campers
Friendly & approachable – Experience working with children aged 3‑16 years
Organized and excellent communicator – Effective at storing and relaying information to supervisors and families
Tech‑savvy – Comfortable using tools like Google Workspace and Slack
Agile – Able to meet the physical demands of a high‑energy camp setting
Schedule and Requirements
Full on‑site availability during the summer: June‑August, Monday‑Friday
Hours: camp operates 7am–6pm, nurses typically work 35 hours per week within this timeframe
Ability to commute to: 370 Lancaster Ave, Haverford, PA 19041
Must be at least 21 years old
Must be up to date on all immunizations and willing to provide emergency health information upon hire
Ability to lift 50 lbs, respond quickly to emergencies, and work in an active, outdoor environment
Must have valid CPR/BLS certification + Current RN or LPN license
Pediatric or camp experience preferred
Perks and Benefits
Pay range: $30–40/hour
FLSA Status: This is a seasonal full‑time, non‑exempt position under the FLSA
Paid training: remote training on safety, DEI, classroom management, and more + in‑person staff training the weekend prior to camp; please note that training is paid at state minimum wage, or $12/hr, whichever is higher
All required background checks and certifications fully reimbursed
Summer Bonus: Earn an additional $40 per week for working six or more weeks with no absences
Referral Bonus: Earn $50 per hired referral, with no referral limits
