Job Title: Phlebotomist IJob Description
The primary role of the Phlebotomist I is to assist in performing various duties, including troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. This position involves drawing blood, labeling specimens, centrifuging, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information.
Responsibilities
Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods. Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles. Understand and follow all physicians' orders. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy. Package specimens for transport, maintaining required temperatures. Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department training sessions. Respond to telephone inquiries and read laboratory results. Essential Skills
1-2 years of recent phlebotomy experience. Proficiency in blood draw techniques from pediatric to geriatric patients. Strong customer service skills, showing respect and understanding to patients. Experience with venipuncture and specimen collection. Additional Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment. Work Environment
The position is initially based at a Patient Service Center (PSC) and may later cover IOP and PSC locations in the Huntsville area. The role requires working both independently and as part of a team. The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. Training for this role will last about one week. Job Type & Location

The pay range for this position is $17.75 - $18.75/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
