Nurse Manager – Neuro Stroke Unit – 40 hours per week – Day shift

Overview Administrative accountability for leading, managing, developing, supervising, and evaluating all aspects of patient care. Manages and collaborates relationships with leadership members and physicians to ensure the highest quality care for patients. Assures professional, clinical, and educational excellence and facilitates empowerment of staff in implementing innovative care delivery models. Stimulates a collaborative multidisciplinary team approach in the continuous improvement of patient care services. Assumes responsibility for fiscal management of the unit.
Unit Overview 40‑bed unit specializing in neuro patients. Patient population includes stroke/stroke‑like symptoms, seizures, brain bleeds, and other neurological diagnoses. A small number of cardiac patients may receive non‑titrated cardiac drips. All RNs are required to be ACLS and NIH certified.
Responsibilities
Serve as the clinical and administrative leader of the Neuro Stroke Unit.
Lead multidisciplinary team meetings and promote continuous quality improvement.
Ensure compliance with clinical standards and professional development of staff.
Manage unit finances and resource allocation.
Collaborate with the Stroke program and Stroke Center to enhance patient outcomes.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing required; Master’s degree in Nursing, Business, Health Management or related field preferred.
ANCC recognized nursing specialty certification preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in an acute care setting required.
Demonstrated progressive nursing leadership experience (e.g., Charge Nurse, Assistant Clinical Manager, House Manager, Clinical Coordinator, Clinical Unit Leader, or Chairperson of a shared governance council/committee).
Knowledge of quality management and service excellence.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills that provide coaching and facilitation expertise.
Excellent problem‑solving skills with an innovative, creative leadership style.
Preferred background with stroke population and a drive for continuous improvement and quality of care based on best practices.
Certifications and Licenses
Current license to practice in the State of Michigan as a Registered Nurse.
BCLS/ACLS certification as required per unit standards.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Working conditions are variable with exposure to communicable diseases and other hazards.
Driving may be required depending on specialty.
Frequent walking, bending, and lifting may be required.
