Mix/Coat Manufacturing Operator
Job Description
The Coat Manufacturing Operator is responsible for assisting with production line setup, tear down, and routine operation of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes on commercial scale equipment. This role involves following current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and standard operating procedures, as well as documenting in manufacturing records using Good Documentation Practices (GDPs).
Responsibilities
Demonstrate technical abilities related to the operation of commercial equipment, including mixing, coating, slitting, rotary converting, and packaging. Learn and retain key technical concepts required for converting production lines, such as web handling, tensions, gear ratios, splices, die stations, vision systems, and pick-in-place systems. Learn and retain technical concepts required for mixing and coating production lines, including order of additions, solvation, emulsions, coat weights, % solids, assay, and viscosity. Support the manufacturing line Lead by monitoring processes, performing roll changes, conducting in-process inspections, and assisting with line setup and teardown. Read and understand chemical Safety Data Sheets (SDS) guidance.
Essential Skills
High School diploma or GED (Technical or Associates degree preferred). 1-3+ years of experience in a cGMP production environment. Ability to understand written and verbal instructions in English. Ability to interpret manufacturing documents such as Manufacturing Batch Records (MBRs), Setup Diagrams (SUDs), Visual Standards, Control Charts, Summary Sheets, and Logbooks. Technical aptitude related to mixing, coating, slitting, rotary converting, and packaging.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in industries that follow GMPs, such as pharmaceuticals, medical devices, biotechnology, food & beverages, cosmetics, and dietary supplements manufacturing. Proficiency in blueprint reading, production, mixing, labeling, machine operating, batching, inventory management, blending, coating, and compounding.
