Unit Description The Medical/Surgical Stepdown Unit at Duke Raleigh Campus is a 45‑bed unit that serves patients with a wide range of diagnoses including sepsis, pneumonia, diabetes, sickle cell, and gastrointestinal complications. The unit also provides care to patients with mental health disorders and step‑down level of care patients (this includes cardiac drips, post‑cath lab recovery, peritoneal dialysis, and more). The nurse‑to‑patient ratio is 1:3‑5 (depending on the acuity of the patients) on days and nights. The 4th‑floor team is active in delivering exemplary care for every patient, every time!
