Dental Hygienist Role Dental Hygienist duties revolve around conducting initial patient screenings, cleaning teeth (e.g., removing plaque), and advising patients on oral health and preventative care. You help dentists decide treatments for teeth or gum diseases. You should be reliable, build trust with patients, and have deep knowledge of health and safety rules.
Responsibilities
Ensure patients feel comfortable before examination
Sterilize dental instruments properly
Conduct initial mouth screenings and review oral health history
Identify conditions such as gingivitis, caries, or periodontitis
Clean and protect patients’ teeth (e.g., remove plaque or apply fluoride)
Educate patients of all ages on proper teeth care (demonstrate brushing techniques)
Give instructions to patients after operations or other dental procedures
Take X-rays or dental impressions
Assist dentists in selecting appropriate treatments, including oral cancer
Maintain documentation and charts for each patient
Monitor supplies
Skills & Qualifications
Proven experience as Dental Hygienist or similar role
Dental Hygiene license required
In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations (e.g., HIPAA)
Experience preparing and maintaining dental equipment
Outstanding communication skills
Patient and friendly personality
Attention to detail
Stamina for physical demands
Diploma in Dental Hygiene (preferred)
Job Details Job Types: Part‑time, Full‑time
Pay: $55.00 – $65.00 per hour
