In recent years, Waterland has invested heavily in developing and rolling out its Employee Life Cycle, under the guidance of the Head of HR. During this period, Waterland grew from around 100 employees to more than 200.

To further shape and support the People agenda, Waterland is now looking for an

HR Manager

(m/f/x), who will be based in Antwerp as part of our Central Services team. The Central Services team is located in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom and consists of more than 50 specialists who are responsible for the legal, reporting, accounting, tax, investor relations, technology, HR, responsible investment and marketing functions of Waterland.

What will be your impact? The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking, operational HR excellence and the credibility to operate in a demanding private equity environment. The role spans 11 offices in 9 European countries and involves a total group of over 200 employees.

The HR Manager will:

Manage the Employee Lifecycle at group level, including:

Talent & Performance (recruitment strategy; performance cycles; succession planning; learning & development)

Compensation & Benefits (design and maintenance of competitive C&B structures; bonus, incentive, and carried interest-related HR processes)

HR Operations & Governance (HR policies, compliance, and best practices; collaboration with other Waterland teams and external advisors (legal, payroll, benefits); continuous improvement of HR processes and tooling)

Culture & Organisation (safeguarding and strengthening Waterland’s culture; measuring and monitoring employee engagement; supporting change and growth as the organisation evolves)

Drive a professional, scalable, and pragmatic HR framework across the organisation.

Serve as a sparring partner on people topics for investment teams and portfolio leadership.

Build strong relationships with partners, investment teams, and the broader Central Services team.

Gain deep understanding of Waterland’s culture, governance, and operating model.

The HR Manager will report to the Head of HR (also based in Belgium).

We are seeking candidates (m/f/x) who can meet the following requirements:

Holder of a Master’s degree and 10-15 years of experience in an HR role, ideally in professional or financial services, or similarly high-performance environments.

Strong hands‑on HR background combined with strategic thinking.

Experience in organisational development and digitalisation.

Experience working closely with senior leadership and partners.

High level of discretion, judgment, and professionalism.

Proven ability to operate autonomously and take ownership.

Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English. If you are fluent in another European language, we would love to hear about it.

A down-to‑earth and open team player, having good communication and conviction skills, decisiveness, a creative yet pragmatic attitude, initiative‑driven, curious and passionate.

Well‑organised, self‑starter, pro‑active, detail‑oriented, ability to multi‑task and work to tight deadlines. Works in a consistent manner with software tools.

Taking responsibility for tasks at hand. Ability to apply strong theoretical knowledge on practical situations, taking the company risk profile and goals into account.
