Base pay range $75,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr
Role Overview The Melt Process Engineer is responsible for supporting, optimizing, and improving mechanical systems and production equipment used in a manufacturing foundry environment. This position applies engineering principles to develop, modify, and sustain equipment, tooling, and manufacturing processes that support safety, quality, cost, and operational performance.
Primary Responsibilities
Design, evaluate, and improve mechanical systems, machinery, tooling, and manufacturing processes
Develop and maintain process controls, quality checks, and equipment performance standards
Analyze equipment performance, troubleshoot failures, and recommend corrective actions
Support equipment installation, commissioning, and process validation
Create, review, and update engineering documentation including drawings, specifications, and work instructions
Review customer and product design requirements to determine manufacturability and technical feasibility
Select or specify components and materials to ensure reliability, safety, and performance compliance
Conduct engineering studies, trials, and tests to validate new designs or process changes
Work with maintenance and production teams to resolve equipment issues and improve uptime
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to yield, scrap, throughput, and cost
Provide technical guidance to production personnel, technicians, and engineering staff
Ensure equipment and processes comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
Support capital equipment projects, including justification, specification, and installation
Contribute to departmental performance objectives, including safety, quality, and productivity goals
Engineering & Technical Functions
Interpret mechanical drawings, layouts, schematics, and technical specifications
Use CAD and drafting tools to create or revise mechanical designs and layouts
Develop alternative design concepts and process solutions to improve efficiency and reliability
Evaluate mechanical systems, components, and production methods for performance and risk
Prepare engineering documentation for equipment modifications and new installations
Investigate root cause of mechanical and process failures and implement corrective actions
Leadership & Coordination
Coordinate engineering activities with operations, quality, and maintenance teams
Provide oversight and technical direction during equipment installations and upgrades
Assist in the training and development of technicians and production staff
Participate in safety planning, risk assessments, and preventive maintenance programs
Qualifications Education Associate’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field
Experience Two to four years of experience supporting or developing mechanical systems in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Technical Skills
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
AutoCAD or similar mechanical drafting software
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documentation
Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment maintenance, and industrial safety standards
