What this job involves The HVAC Technician (HVAC Mechanic) position is responsible for the comprehensive maintenance, repair, and installation of HVAC and electrical equipment throughout interior and exterior building systems. This role serves as a critical technical specialist ensuring optimal performance of mechanical and electrical operating equipment, utility plant systems, and associated infrastructure. You'll conduct routine assessments of building systems operations, perform diagnostic tests, analyze operational data, and monitor all mechanical and electrical equipment to maintain peak functionality. This position combines hands‑on technical expertise with analytical problem‑solving to deliver reliable environmental control systems that support JLL’s commitment to exceptional facility operations and client satisfaction.
What your day‑to‑day will look like
Install, service, maintain, and repair environmental‑control systems in commercial establishments utilizing refrigeration theory, pipefittingарҭ and structural layout knowledge
Mont compactor and condenser units, fabricate ductwork, and install evaporator units using hand tools, metalworking equipment, and welding apparatus following blueprints and engineering specifications
Cut, bend, and thread tubing and pipes to specifications, joining refriger.Resolve units through sleeves, couplings, and soldered joints to create complete refrigerant circuits
Install expansion valves, discharge valves, motors, compressors, and temperature/humidity controls while connecting control panels to power sources
Test system functionality by injecting refrigerant, monitoring pressure and vacuum gauges, adjusting controlsBrian and checking for gas leaks using specialized testing equipment
Replace defective components including breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses έχουμε electrical wiring using electrician's tools and diagnostic equipment
Service and maintain geen air conditioning systems ranging from 15 to 20 tons cooling capacity in warehouse and factory environments while troubleshooting complex HVAC issues
Required Qualifications
Minimum 16 hours annual continuing education from NATE, HVAC Excellence, or UA Star recognized provider programs
One or more of the following certifications: North American Technician Excellence (NATE) HVACR Service Technician, HVAC Excellence Professional Level, or UA Star HVACR Mastery Certification
Demonstrated expertise in refrigeration theory, pipefitting, and structural layout applications
Proficiency with hand tools, metalworking equipment, welding apparatus, and electrical testing equipment
Experience with blueprint reading and engineering specification interpretation
Knowledge of electrical systems including motor controls, circuitry, and power distribution
Ability to perform diagnostic testing, pressure monitoring, and system analysis
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with commercial HVAC systems in office buildings, department stores, and large commercial establishments
Background in utility plant equipment operation and maintenance
Familiarity with advanced HVAC control systems and building automation platforms
Experience with preventive maintenance programs and routine system assessments
Knowledge of insulation installation techniques and energy efficiency practices
Ability to work with torch equipment for soldering and joining applications
Experience troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical equipment failures
Location On‑site – Nashville, TN Work Shift Standard business hours
