Job Description The Meat Packer is responsible for the efficient and hygienic packaging of meat products in preparation for storage, shipment, or sale. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety and hygiene standards, and the ability to work swiftly to ensure product quality and integrity.
Reporting Relationships
Reports to: Senior Butcher/Team Lead, Factory Management Officer
Coordinates with: Production Admin, Stock Control Admin, Inventory Admin
Key Responsibilities
Product Handling: Safely and hygienically handle all types of meat products for packaging according to company standards
Packaging: Accurately pack, weigh, and label meat products in preparation for shipping or sale
Quality Control: Inspect meat products for defects before packaging and report issues to supervisor
Sanitation and Cleanliness: Maintain clean work environment following strict hygiene protocols
Equipment Operation: Operate packaging machinery and tools correctly and safely
Inventory Management: Assist in counting and recording inventory levels
Compliance: Adhere to all company policies and food safety regulations
Teamwork: Collaborate with team members to meet packaging targets
Qualifications
Must be physically fit and able to adapt to cold working conditions
Strong physical stamina to lift heavy items and stand for extended periods
Proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Experience in food packaging/production environment preferred but not required
Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
Good teamwork and communication skills
High school diploma or equivalent beneficial
Working Conditions
Work in cold and wet environment typical of meat processing facilities
Must wear appropriate protective gear (PPE, aprons, non-slip footwear)
Exposure to refrigerated areas and use of packaging tools
Regular lifting and handling of heavy items
