We are currently hiring for a Benefits Specialist in the Southern California Pipe Trades Administrative Corporation Retirement Funds Department. This individual will report directly to our Retirement Funds Manager. The Defined Contribution Benefits Specialist will assist with all aspects in the administration of the Southern California Pipe Trades Defined Contribution Plan, Inland Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Retirement and the Landscape, Irrigation and Lawn Sprinkler Industry Defined Contribution Trust Funds.
Experience & General Job Requirements
Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree
3+ years of experience in defined contribution fund recordkeeping and/or administration
Organizational, prioritization, time management, customer service, mathematical, analytical, problem solving, etc.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, with an emphasis in Excel
Certification preferred (NIPA, ASPPA or CEBS)
Knowledge of Taft-Hartley employee benefits plans
Job Responsibilities
Process election and withdrawal forms relating to the Defined Contribution Plans.
Research and resolve distribution and payouts for missing participants.
Research, resolve, and process annual small balance distributions.
Research and prepare 401(k) refunds for employers and participants.
Review and research employer and participant notices for 401(k) overages and shortages.
Review participant accounts with Plan recordkeeper for resequencing.
Answer participant questions (both written and verbal) regarding eligibility, contributions, benefits, and enrollment.
Handle IRS reporting requirements, including 1099-R reporting.
Resolve issues arising from overpayments and underpayments by employers and the administration of the auto-enrollment feature of Plan, including issues arising from late reporting of contributions.
Other responsibilities as assigned by Management.
