Summary Prepares and applies protective coatings to Facility and Facility Site equipment, machinery, and structures to prevent corrosion and deterioration, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Essential Functions
Prepares surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, scraping, and applying primers or sealers.
Applies paint, varnish, epoxy, or other coatings using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
Mixes and matches paint to required specifications, ensuring proper consistency and color.
Operates and maintains painting tools and equipment, including spray guns, compressors, and safety gear.
Follows all safety procedures and uses appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Inspects painted surfaces for quality and touch‑ups as needed.
Works from ladders, scaffolds, and lifts to reach high or difficult areas.
Maintains a clean and organized work area and properly disposes of hazardous materials.
Assists in maintenance and repair of painting equipment and tools.
Completes required documentation and reports related to painting activities.
Works overtime and varied shifts as required.
Education & Experience
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Certification in industrial painting or coatings application is desirable.
2+ years of experience in industrial or commercial painting, preferably in a manufacturing or plant environment.
Knowledge of surface preparation techniques and coating systems.
Familiarity with safety regulations and hazardous material handling.
Certifications and Licenses Certifications required by Local, State, Federal, Environmental and/or Health/Safety Regulatory agencies (e.g., OSHA, NACE).
Supervision Received Performs job duties within prescribed standards. Minimal supervision necessary once tasks are mastered.
Computer Skills Basic computer skills for reading work orders and completing reports.
