The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos currently has an opening for a Network Systems Administrator/Engineer to work at our Stennis Space Center, MS customer site location. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience supporting the HEITS/DHS mission.

This position would be responsible for maintaining the virtualized Windows and Linux servers and applications within the Hyper‑V and physical server environments. The role is a self‑led position designed to assist maintenance of all core service applications, respond to incidents and outages, and support deployment/extension of the core service engineering team as an Operations liaison on all enclaves.

The ideal candidate will have experience with Hyper‑V virtualization technologies, clustering, storage, networking, deploying/patching virtual machines and enterprise applications, and managing storage solutions.

Responsibilities

Ensure day‑to‑day operations of the production environment.

Assist with monitoring and maintaining all physical and virtual environments.

Monitor and communicate the need for optimization, performance changes, ensuring high availability, and supporting technologies to meet customer requirements.

Apply advanced technical principles using Microsoft Hyper‑V, Hyper‑Converged Storage, Microsoft Server, Domain Controllers, and Active Directory Services.

Use storage technologies such as SAN, NAS, and hyper‑converged storage.

Support new technical solutions and systems to meet customer requirements.

Create and maintain detailed documentation of operational designs and procedures.

Adhere to change‑management precepts, write Change Requests seeking approval.

Troubleshoot and resolve unique or complex problems efficiently.

Prepare clear, timely technical documentation explaining recommended/required actions.

Interface directly with the client and parallel teams when necessary.

Apply DISA STIGs and resolve security vulnerabilities.

Support operational transition of enterprise solutions into production.

Available for on‑call support and virtualization engineering expertise when operational issues or outages are escalated.

Basic Qualifications

Currently possess and be able to maintain a TS/SCI Clearance.

BS degree and 8–12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6–10 years; additional experience in lieu of degree is accepted.

Minimum of 10 years of relevant IT work experience.

Proficient in virtualization environments such as Hyper‑V technology and VMware vCenter in a hyper‑converged environment.

Strong knowledge of virtualization infrastructure design, implementation and maintenance.

Hands‑on experience implementing DoD STIG requirements and patch/vulnerability mitigation.

Strong troubleshooting skills with Microsoft and Linux OS environments.

Hands‑on experience reviewing system logs and events to resolve issues.

Demonstrated analytical approach to solving complex problems in a large‑scale, multi‑datacenter environment.

Experience creating and managing critical system work instructions and SOP documentation.

Experience managing Active Directory, Group Policy Objects, MS Server operating systems.

Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with scripting using PowerShell, Python or similar.

Experience with SQL/PostgreSQL databases.

Experience using Windows clustering.

Experience using NetApp products.

Government Operations experience.

Experience deploying and maintaining Windows and Linux servers and enterprise applications.

BS degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience.

Pay Range $92,300.00 – $166,850.00. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include responsibilities, education, experience, skills, and other factors.
