Job Overview The Senior Human Resources Generalist supports a wide range of HR functions, including employee relations, payroll, benefits, compliance, and safety. This role works closely with leadership and employees to ensure HR processes are handled consistently, in accordance with applicable laws and policies, and in support of the organization’s goals, while maintaining a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
Responsibilities and Duties
Assist in supporting full-cycle recruiting efforts, including posting positions internally and externally, attending job fairs, partnering with local colleges, screening applicants, scheduling and participating in interviews, initiating background checks, preparing offer letters, and supporting onboarding in partnership with hiring managers.
Serve as a resource to employees and managers by advising on employee relations, performance management, and workplace concerns; assist with corrective actions, investigations, and terminations as needed.
Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, escalating complex or sensitive matters as appropriate.
Process multi-company, multi-state payroll on a weekly basis; review time records, identify discrepancies, and ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
Prepare, maintain, and audit personnel files and HR records in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements.
Assist with safety-related documentation, training coordination, incident reporting, and workers’ compensation administration.
Perform other HR-related duties as assigned to support business operations.
Knowledge and Skills
Strong working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
High level of discretion in handling confidential information.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Sound judgment, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
Education and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
3–5 years of progressive HR experience in a manufacturing environment. Multi-site HR support experience a plus.
Experience with HRIS systems required; ADP Workforce Now preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Previous payroll and safety experience highly preferred.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Able to perform regular bending, twisting, and lifting to shelve.
Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds and push and/or pull at times.
