Assistant Baseball Coach, Hitting – University Athletics (January 2026 – May 2026) Assists with coaching hitters, managing academic progress, ensuring compliance, recruiting, scheduling, and promoting the baseball program and university.

Coaching Responsibilities

Assist with coaching in practices and games.

Assist with all practice planning activities.

Coach primarily Catchers and/or outfielders during practices.

Conduct film study and scouting report preparation for upcoming contests.

Coordinate and conduct individual workouts for catchers and/or outfielders.

Lead preseason‑conditioning work (excludes weight training).

Academic Responsibilities

Monitor study hall to ensure players complete required hours each week.

Perform periodic academic checks and ensure progress reports are completed and signed by professors.

Arrange tutors as needed for student athletes.

Coordinate with players and Associate Academic Director to maintain satisfactory progress toward graduation.

Maintain eligibility status for all student‑athletes.

Perform additional duties related to academic progress as directed by the Head Coach or Athletics Director.

Compliance

Support program compliance with NCAA, Atlantic Sun Conference, and Lipscomb University rules and regulations.

Keep records of weekly activities and recruiting visits.

Evaluate prospects’ transcripts and verify information with the Admissions Office.

Conduct off‑campus recruiting and talent evaluation.

Coordinate Scoutware emails to recruits and lead on‑campus official/unofficial visits.

Recruiting

Conduct off‑campus recruiting and talent evaluation.

Coordinate periodic Scoutware emails to recruits.

Lead and coordinate on‑campus official/unofficial visits.

Verify prospects’ transcripts through the Admissions Office.

Scheduling and Other Duties

Assist head coach with scheduling.

Order all equipment and gear annually.

Coordinate with incoming student athletes for admissions and housing activities.

Prepare detailed computer reports for in‑game and practice video evaluation.

Produce weekly opponent scouting reports.

Assist graduate assistant with field maintenance duties.

Promote an attitude that winning is secondary to sportsmanship and overall welfare.

Student Mentoring and Leadership

Serve as a leader among student athletes.

Assist with spiritual development, meet players one‑on‑one, and remain available to team members.

Maintain an environment that builds self‑esteem and positive self‑image.

Demonstrate interest in excellence across classroom, community service, character, and off‑season activities.

Provide leadership that promotes positive attitudes, sportsmanship, and Christian character.

Offer ongoing individual support and guidance for team members.

Supervision

Supervise graduate assistants and volunteers where applicable.

Lead with Christian character, teamwork, and a positive, efficient work environment.

Promotion of Program and University

Assist director of athletics, associate directors, or head coach with promotional and fundraising efforts.

Appear on behalf of program; coordinate appearances by other coaches and student athletes; manage media, campus, donor communications.

Ensure all activities comply with NCAA, Atlantic Sun Conference, and Lipscomb University regulations.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
