25080 – 1939 Emerg Mental Health Services This position may have a signing bonus available. A member of the Recruitment Team will confirm eligibility during the interview process. Responsibilities
Work as a member of a multi‑disciplinary team to provide emergency psychiatric services to adults and children who present for evaluation to emergency departments, as well as patients within the hospital in need of crisis evaluation. Provide crisis intervention and risk assessment to evaluate for service and level of care needs. Must be able to work independently and collaborate with other team members (e.g., psychiatrist, nursing, behavioral health staff) to achieve patient care goals. Develops and maintains good working relationships with other members of the PES Team, staff members of other departments in the organization and members of the community agencies and departmental collaterals. Demonstrates ability to formulate diagnostic impressions based on DSM‑V criteria, assess for risk to self or others and for risk of being the victim of abuse or neglect as defined by the State of Massachusetts protective agencies. Demonstrates knowledge and use of "best practice" techniques and considers input, feedback and concerns of the patient's natural support systems in making determinations for appropriate levels of care. Records clinical information in the required format that is consistent with professional standards, Joint Commission, DMH and DPH. Treats patients, family members, co‑workers and collateral parties with respect regardless of personal bias. Qualifications
License/Certification/Education Required:
Master’s Degree in social work, mental health or other related field Preferred:
License in the behavioral health field Experience/Skills Minimum two years of experience in the behavioral health field Scheduled shift is Monday through Friday evenings 3 PM – 11:30 PM. Position is 100% on‑site at two different emergency departments located in Southbridge and Webster, and requires flexibility to work at either site or travel between sites based on the needs of the service. A driver’s license and reliable motor vehicle transportation are a must.
