Job Overview Perform and interpret tests at all complexity levels. Work with a collaborative team to determine and communicate test results, monitor quality control, reference ranges, and specimen requirements. Schedule
Shift: nights 8:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m., rotating 4‑10‑hour shifts.
Weekend rotation every other weekend.
Three designated holidays per year, alternating annually.
Responsibilities
Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, test analyses, reporting, and record maintenance.
Perform laboratory testing in a compliant manner.
Maintain regulatory knowledge; adhere to quality control policies.
Document all quality control activities, instrument calibrations, and maintenance.
Respond to quality control or assurance issues.
Maintain instruments and equipment per manufacturer specs.
Ensure good documentation practices and clear records.
Participate in proficiency testing under CLIA regulations.
Engage in continuing education, professional development, and annual competency assessments.
Follow policies when test systems fall below acceptable performance levels.
Identify problems affecting test performance; notify supervisors.
Educate and train students, employees, and residents on theory, skills, and safety protocols.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a science‑related field OR meets CLIA qualifications for high‑complexity testing personnel grandfathering clauses.
Diploma and/or transcripts provided.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification as Medical Technologist (MT, MLT, MLS) or ASA certification eligible from ASCP.
Previous laboratory experience.
Compensation aligns with Medical Technologist/MLT/Lab Technician positions; pay varies by licensure level and experience.
Physical Requirements
Visual acuity, color differentiation, fine motor skills, manual dexterity.
May stand long periods; light lifting required.
Exposure to hazardous chemicals, biohazards, radioactive materials possible.
Personal Protective Equipment
Follows standard precautions using required protective equipment.
