Ensure individual and employee compliance with all safety rules and requirements. Define plant-wide direct labor staffing plans based on production volume, prepare lines for successful start of next shift, manage rework/defects/scrap, and implement root cause corrective actions. Actively pursue production goals following the PQTC systematic. Achieve PQTC production goals and take a customer’s view while leading production. Support and drive Lean Manufacturing activities on the shop floor. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws, including hiring, training, performance appraisal, and discipline. Guide/direct daily and weekly plant activities, planning and leading daily coordination meetings. Supervise subordinate employees, guide, counsel, and appraise; recommend selections, retention, training, promotability, and salary levels of direct reports. Provide visible support to all indirect subordinates, ensuring safety, production, and quality standards are met and investigating employee suggestions and complaints. Coordinate with plant management staff to resolve any issues and maintain the production schedule. Define efficient processes, measure performance, and pursue improvement opportunities. Assist with plant compliance regarding mandated regulations and Great Dane rules. Review proposed major disciplinary actions for completeness, fairness, and consistency. Coordinate special projects as required. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university recommended; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination. Experience:
Progressive leadership history in a manufacturing environment and familiarity with equipment and processes such as welding, fabrication, and typical assembly line operations. Extensive experience in Lean Manufacturing desired.
Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites, especially Excel. Understand and promote an effective safety culture. Problem‑solving skills in variable situations with limited standardization. Effective communication and presentation skills to managers, clients, customers, and the public. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
