Come join our team! We’re looking for an enthusiastic Cafe Team Member who makes Grand Central Bakery’s vibrant cafes wonderful spaces. Cafe Team Members are passionate about preparing and serving delicious food and drink to a community of loyal customers.
The Café Team Member’s role is integral to the efficient, enthusiastic team that keeps our cafés lively. They support a welcoming environment, deliver outstanding customer service using our 3 Steps to Great Service, work any shift or station for which they are trained, use company systems proficiently, handle cash accurately, and contribute to a positive, inclusive atmosphere in support of our mission, vision, and values.
The Café Team Member can work the following shifts: Retail Open, Mid‑Shift, Retail Close. They are expected to regularly and efficiently work on the sandwich bar and barista station.
Rate of Pay $16.96 per hour plus tips (part‑time, 24 hrs/week or fewer).
Tips average $7.00–$9.00 per hour.
Schedule
Part‑time, 24 or fewer hours each week.
Schedule flexibility, including days of the week and time of day, is required. Ability to work Sundays and Mondays.
Must be able to cover any shift from open, mid, and/or close.
Qualifications and Skills
Must be at least 18 years old.
Ability to read, write, and speak English required.
Maintains a valid Food Handler’s Card at all times and follows health department guidelines at all times.
Must demonstrate regular attendance by coming to work on scheduled working days and being on time.
Ability to add, subtract, and perform basic math with ease required.
Basic computer skills required.
Ability to interact with customers for a full shift, in a busy, loud environment with frequent change, while maintaining outstanding customer service required.
Food service experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
This position works in a building shared with production facilities and is constantly exposed to wheat flour dust and other grain dusts (rye, corn, oat). Busy café environment with constant customer interaction, interruptions, and noise.
