About the Position
The Clark County Department of Aviation is seeking qualified candidates for the Airport Control Center Dispatcher position. The dispatcher monitors and operates a variety of transportation, communications, and security systems to provide real‑time communication, dispatch skilled trade workers, emergency personnel, and police officers within the airport’s delegated Metro jurisdiction. The dispatcher also maintains access control systems, secures airport facilities, and executes appropriate response plans for significant events.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
One (1) year of full‑time dispatching experience. Law‑enforcement or fire‑agency dispatch academy or related training may substitute for one (1) year of experience.
Emergency dispatch experience preferred.
Professional level experience or education that provides the skills to perform all job functions may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis.
Documentation of qualifications in the application’s Education and Work Experience sections.
License and Certifications
Valid Nevada Class C driver’s license required at hire.
Completion of specialized police dispatch operations training required before probationary period ends.
Security Awareness and National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certification within six (6) months of hire and annual recertification.
Continuous maintenance of NCIC/NCJIS certification is required for employment.
Working Conditions
Extended shifts and on‑call for emergencies.
Day, evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts.
Medical Examination and Drug Testing Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a physical examination by an examining physician and a pre‑employment drug examination.
Residency Requirement Permanent employees must maintain a principal place of residence within Clark County and provide proof of compliance with Nevada motor vehicle registration and driver’s license laws within 90 days of employment.
Citizenship Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.
Background Check Employment is contingent upon a completed education/experience background investigation, an FBI fingerprint‑based criminal history check, and security badge eligibility as mandated by the Transportation Security Administration. Two original government‑issued IDs must be presented upon acceptance of a job offer.
Physical Demands Typical duties include the use of standard office equipment, reading printed materials and multiple computer screens, hearing and speaking in English, and performing data entry. Job Duties
Communicate in a friendly and professional manner, projecting a positive image.
Dispatch LVMPD Officers to emergency and non‑emergency law enforcement situations and related FAA mandated security regulations.
Maintain event logs and dispatch Metro officers using 400 codes, training in Airport Metro Academy curriculum.
Respond to various problems such as fire, smoke, water flow, HVAC, or maintenance needs in buildings, tunnels, and exterior locations.
Enter and verify information in NCIC, NCJIS, SCOPE, DMV, and other local, state, and national computer files.
Regulate public‑traffic information via the I‑215 Tunnel Connector Computer System.
Monitor and respond to card‑key security and alarm systems.
Operate computerized tram status control systems for all terminals.
Respond to all airport emergencies, including medical, accidents, altercations, bomb threats, fires, and aircraft emergencies.
Operate a 24‑hour paging system.
Maintain computerized records and logs; prepare summaries and reports as required.
Provide emergency communication via the Distress Alarm System throughout the airport garage complex.
Operate integrated radio and telephone technology; report maintenance needs.
Monitor Computer Controlled Access System (CCAS) alarms per the Airport Security Program.
Provide real‑time security camera surveillance and video investigation.
Execute life safety and security system monitoring and response.
Track drone interference and laser strike reporting.
Manage urgent and emergency communications via Mass Communication Systems.
Facilitate airport work orders using support software for service‑related calls.
Provide status updates on service requests.
Contribute to unit efficiency and effectiveness through suggestions and active teamwork.
Perform ancillary duties such as providing public information, maintaining files, and office support work.
