Behavioral Health Care Manager I (3rd Shift - After Hours) North Carolina.

Work Shift:

3rd Shift – 8:00pm–4:30am weekdays and alternate weekends 8:00pm–8:00am (EST). Holiday and weekend work required.

Job Description:

Manage psychiatric and substance abuse or substance use disorder facility‑based and outpatient professional treatment health benefits through telephonic or written review.

Use appropriate screening criteria knowledge and clinical judgment to assess member needs, ensuring access to medically necessary behavioral health care in a cost‑effective setting, in accordance with UM Clinical Guidelines and contract.

Refer cases to Peer Reviewers as appropriate.

Perform psychiatric and substance abuse assessment coordination, implementation, case planning, monitoring and evaluating to promote quality member outcomes, optimize member health benefits, and promote effective use of health benefits and community resources.

Minimum Qualifications:

MA or MS in social work counseling (or related behavioral health field) or a degree in nursing.

Minimum 3 years of experience with facility‑based and/or outpatient psychiatric and substance abuse or substance abuse disorder treatment, or equivalent education and experience.

Current, active unrestricted license (RN, LCSW, LMSW, LMHC, LPC, LBA, LMFT, Clinical Psychologist) or, where licensure is not required, a Board Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA) if performing UM approvals only and reviews ABA services only under licensed supervision.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

Previous case management/utilization management experience with complex psychiatric/substance abuse cases.

Bilingual in Spanish (strongly preferred).

Licensed in North Carolina.

Residency in North Carolina.
