Location Serving Newark (Ironbound), Elizabeth (Elizabethport), Staten Island (North Shore), and Brooklyn.
Focus Environmental Justice & Zero‑Emission (ZE) Infrastructure
Core Responsibilities
Lead local outreach efforts and act as the primary point of contact for residents in the North Shore (SI), Ironbound (Newark), and Elizabeth Port communities.
Distill complex Zero‑Emission (ZE) concepts—such as "Rubber Tired Gantry Crane power systems" or "pneumatic cement haulers"—into simple, everyday language that is accessible to all residents.
Apply knowledge of Title VI and the Safe Harbor provision to translate "Vital Documents" according to EPA guidelines.
Utilize experience with "Justice-40" and disadvantaged communities to ensure project benefits are equitable and transparent.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Political Science, Public Policy, Urban Planning, or Environmental Science (preferred).
NYC/NYS/NJ Public Agency experience such as PANYNJ, MTA, NYSDOT, NYCDOT, NJDOT (preferred) with PANYNJ experience preferred.
Mandatory Bilingual proficiency: Native‑level fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese.
Proven track record of working with disadvantaged communities on large‑scale infrastructure projects.
Exceptional ability to explain technical engineering or environmental concepts to a non‑technical audience.
Familiarity with federal EPA guidelines regarding Limited English Proficiency and the translation of vital project documentation.
