Responsibilities
Models and delivers a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
Registers sales on assigned cash register, providing customers with courteous, fair, friendly, and efficient checkout service.
Assists the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy, including using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services; resolves customer issues and answers questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members, including interpersonal habits (e.g., greeting, eye contact, courtesy) and Walgreens service traits.
Provides courteous, friendly, fast, and efficient service; recommends items for sale and trade‑up or companion items.
Registers customer purchases on assigned cash register, collects cash, provides change, processes voids, returns, rain checks, refunds, and exchanges; assists customers to the OTC aisle when possible.
Maintains clean and well‑merchandised counters and shelves, conducts inventory, and keeps records; prices merchandise as required.
Performs duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager, utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, fill prescriptions, verify medicine, and check for interactions.
Reports prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty; adheres to company policies, procedures, and the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
Strictly adheres to Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during applicable prescription dispensing activities.
Handles telephone calls that do not require pharmacist attention, including physician calls.
Processes manual claims for third‑party prescription programs in a timely and efficient manner.
Supports pharmacy department inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceuticals; files claims for overages, shortages, or damaged goods.
Ensures compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products, such as alcoholic beverages and tobacco.
Constructs and maintains displays (promotional, seasonal, super structures, sale merchandise) and completes resets and revisions as directed.
Assists with separating food items and product placement as specified by policies; uses first‑in, first‑out method for stock rotation.
Possesses working knowledge of store systems and equipment.
Provides customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo service, poster print, and creative machine, and suggestively sells promotional photo products.
Assumes web pick‑up responsibilities (monitors orders, picks items, delivers orders to customers).
Assists with exterior and interior maintenance to ensure a clean, neat, and orderly store condition.
Maintains respectful relationships with coworkers and complies with all company policies and procedures.
Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state required certification/registration.
Attends training and completes PPLs requested by manager or assigned by corporate; acquires continuing education credits and maintains knowledge of healthcare and pharmacy developments.
Basic Qualifications
Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
Prefer strong math skills for accurate prescription filling.
Prefer good computer skills.
Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
Prefer PTCB certification.
