EHS Technician – Sand Point ShorePlant Trident Seafoods is the largest vertically integrated seafood harvesting and processing company in North America. Summary : The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Technician supports Trident’s environmental health and safety program obligations and performs responsibilities at the direction of the EHS Manager or designated lead.

Key Responsibilities :

Plan, organize, and deliver various training and certification programs for compliance with local, state and federal regulations.

Track and maintain training and certification information according to protocol.

Organize and attend Environmental and/or Safety Committee meetings.

Prepare and deliver presentations at meetings.

Inspect and monitor equipment, work areas, and procedures for compliance with established environmental health and safety rules and regulations.

Participate in cleanup, consolidation and/or disposal of materials according to protocol.

Respond to emergencies involving pollution and incidents.

Develop and distribute monthly safety tips to employees.

Develop and execute procedures for testing safety systems and protocols, and ensure testing is documented.

Evaluate test results and make recommendations for maintaining compliance with regulatory agencies.

Survey work sites for potential hazards, record data, and submit incident and summary reports.

Investigate pollution or other environmental incidents that occur.

Create and provide reports and documents as requested.

Facilitate Return‑to‑Work (RTW) program between managers, supervisors, and employees.

Attend and provide reports at plant management meetings as requested.

Perform activities and protocols to enable the location to achieve and maintain Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) or similar status.

Assist with inspection or other regulatory activities as needed.

Serve as initial on‑site contact and liaison between environmental waste contractors, regulatory inspectors, and Port regulatory personnel.

Assist Plant Management, Human Resources and Corporate Safety to deploy and implement the Trident Safety Process and to fully prepare or maintain facilities for OSHA VPP accreditation.

Additional Responsibilities :

Acquire knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.

Notify designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.

Minimum Qualifications :

High school education diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications :

A minimum of 1 year of Environmental Health and Safety related work experience or equivalent education.

Occupational Health‑Safety and/or accredited professional certification or the ability to complete within 6 months.

HAZWOPER certification or ability to complete within 6 months.

Experience in the Seafood industry highly desired.

Special Training/Skills :

Strong collaboration, analytical, influential, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with site management.

Must be results‑oriented with the ability to drive continuous improvement within the Safety and Occupational Health department as well as the overall organization.

Strong working knowledge of technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Work Environment :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Physical Demands :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
