Director of Behavioral Health (MCI-Framingham, Framingham, MA)
Location: MCI-Framingham, Framingham, MA
Base pay range $118,000 – $122,000 per year
Position Summary The Director of Behavioral Health is responsible for the development and implementation of evidence-based interventions within a correctional facility. The BHD also provides clinical and/or administrative supervision and monitoring of a behavioral health delivery system with the accreditation standards of the American Correctional Association and the National Commission on Correctional Health Care. The BHD collaborates with the Regional Behavioral Health Director, Site Health Service Administrator, Medical Director, Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatrist to fulfill contractual services. The BHD is responsible for providing individual- and group-level mental health services, treatment planning, and crisis management to incarcerated persons with the site mental health unit, infirmary, and restorative housing.
Essential Functions
Serves an administrative role within the medical unit that involves the development and implementation of individual and group-level interventions.
Performs administrative duties such as overseeing the implementation of VCHS policies and procedures.
Provides essential quality assurance data to the VCHS Regional and Corporate offices vis‑a‑vis the use of electronic medical records.
Supervises the behavior health staff (e.g., qualified behavioral health professionals, substance use disorder counselors, etc.).
Conducts weekly staff meetings and rounds with behavioral health staff.
Attends monthly meetings with VCHS Regional and Corporate administrators.
Collaborates with medical professionals (e.g., nurses, medical doctors, health service administrator, etc.) and security personnel.
Manages behavioral health staff schedules and other assignments.
Minimum Requirements
Must have a graduate level degree (e.g., MA, MS, PhD) in psychology, social work, mental health counseling, or a related field.
Must be independently licensed (e.g., LICSW, LMHC, Licensed Psychologist).
Supervisory and correctional experience preferred.
