Base pay range $375,000.00/yr - $400,000.00/yr

Summary This position is intermittent located at the Richard L Roudebush VAMC within the Radiology Department. The facility is a Complexity Level 1A - highly affiliated medical center and provides inpatient, specialty, and primary care throughout Central Indiana. The primary purpose of this position is to perform duties and responsibilities of an interventional radiologist and, when necessary, general radiology. This is on call coverage. This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT.

Qualifications To qualify for this position you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.

Basic Requirements

United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a VA-approved school.

Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia.

Residency Training: completion of an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Approved residencies include (1) ACGME accredited programs; (2) American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited programs; (3) Other residencies (non-US) followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United States, as deemed appropriate by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee.

Residents currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited residency training programs and who would otherwise meet the basic requirements for appointment are eligible to be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs).

PRPs must be fully licensed physicians (ie. not a training license) and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee basis.

PRPs are not considered independent practitioners and will not be privileged.

Preferred Experience

Board Certified/Eligible by the American Board of Radiology and have completed an IR fellowship training program or residency.

Duties

Perform a variety of interventional radiology procedures including thrombolysis, angiography, embolization, line placement, drain placement, nephrostomy, cholecystostomy tube placements, biliary interventions, dialysis access, fistulograms, angioplasty/stent placement, IVC filters, ablations, gastrostomy tube placement, vertebroplasty, biopsy, joint injections/aspiration.

Document consultations in the electronic medical record.

Interpret diagnostic radiology examinations (plain film, CT, US, MRI) as required, covering head, neck, chest, abdomen/pelvis, and extremities.

Utilize full breadth of diagnostic imaging skill set due to limited sub-specialization within the department.

Participate in quality management activities such as image quality peer review and other activities as needed.

Provide interventional radiology coverage after hours, on weekends, and holidays.

Support performance improvement activities, including external review programs, internal peer review programs, and accreditation requirements.

Eligible for telework up to 100% (not remote).

Compensation includes competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases. Paid time off: 50-55 days per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays, and possible 5 days paid absence for CME). Retirement: traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401(k) with up to 5% VA contributions. Insurance includes federal health, vision, dental, term life, long-term care. Licensure: one full and unrestricted license from any U.S. state or territory. CME: possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification). Malpractice: free liability protection with tail coverage. Contract: no Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting. Benefits eligibility prorated based on tour of duty and hours worked. Work schedule: TBD (minimum number of weeks up to 32 weeks of on call coverage).
