Rapid‑response and acute‑care units manage a full range of clinical issues, spanning significant blood dyscrasias, advanced endocrine pathology, cardiac and renal failure, gastrointestinal conditions, infectious disease, asthma, cystic fibrosis, and many other conditions. Due to patient acuity, advanced training is available to elevate nurses to the highest level of functioning.

Role Purpose Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed professional nurse, supporting a team of patients to ensure a safe environment and reduce risk of harm. Collect vital data, report changes in patient status, and assist in patient education and documentation.

Responsibilities

Implement direct patient care under nurse supervision, promoting patient- and family-centered care in a healing environment.

Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), perform vital signs, intake & output, fall and pressure‑ulcer prevention measures, urinary catheter care, phlebotomy, and point‑of‑care testing as requested.

Collect clinical data and report changes in patient status to the nurse.

Assist the nurse with patient and family education and document all patient care activities with correct medical terminology. Act as a 1:1 patient‑safety sitter as necessary.

Ensure availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient’s needs.

Participate in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance, and in professional development.

Minimum Requirements

Education : High School Diploma or GED

Experience : No Experience

Supervisor Experience : No Experience

Preferred Requirements

Preferred experience : CNA, nurse assistant, EMT, or surgical technician

Licenses & Certifications : Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)
