Passive Site Services (PSS) Engineer / Technician – Telecom

Diploma / ITI / Technical Certification in Electrical, Mechanical, or Telecom Engineering
Job Summary The Passive Site Services (PSS) Engineer is responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance of telecom passive infrastructure to ensure site availability and SLA compliance. The role covers power systems, batteries, generators, refuelling, and basic civil/electrical works across assigned sites.
Key Responsibilities Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
Perform scheduled PM and on-call CM activities while meeting SLA and MTTR targets.
Inspect AC/DC power systems, distribution boards, rectifiers, surge protection devices, and alarms.
Conduct battery inspections and DC battery discharge tests for VRLA and LIB batteries.
Inspect and maintain solar and hybrid power systems where installed.
Generator & Fuel Management
Carry out routine generator maintenance, oil changes, and operational checks.
Monitor generator output, alarms, starter batteries, and automation systems.
Measure fuel levels during each site visit, perform refuelling, and report leaks or spills.
Support annual fuel tank cleaning activities.
Earthing & Structural Checks
Inspect earthing and bonding points and measure earth resistance (≤ 5 ohms).
Perform non-climb visual tower inspections and report any anomalies.
CME Works (On Request)
Execute approved civil, mechanical, and electrical works such as fencing, plinth construction, and shelter maintenance.
Documentation & Compliance
Capture geotagged photographs with Site ID, date/time, and GPS coordinates.
Maintain accurate maintenance, fuel, and test records.
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Required Skills
Knowledge of telecom passive infrastructure
Hands‑on experience with power systems, generators, and batteries
Strong troubleshooting and field execution skills
Ability to work independently in remote locations
Preferred Experience
Telecom tower or site operations
Solar or hybrid power systems
Working Conditions
Field-based role with frequent travel
On‑call support for corrective maintenance
