Registered Nurse (RN) - Acute Care - Oncology - FT Days
Wellstar Health System is seeking an experienced, proactive Registered Nurse to provide high‑quality, evidence‑based care in our oncology acute care unit.
As a key member of an interdisciplinary team, you will support patients, families and staff in delivering safe, patient‑centered care across the continuum of oncology services.

Job Summary:
The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized, high‑quality, safe patient care.
You will practice under the guidance of Nurse Managers, follow the Wellstar Shared Governance Model, and adhere to the Wellstar Professional Practice Model and evidence‑based practice and research standards.
Core Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
Perform the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation and evaluation) using evidence‑based practice and analytical thinking.
Provide relationship‑based, patient‑centered care that reflects cultural diversity and population‑specific characteristics.
Partner with patients and significant others to set goals and maintain focus on the plan of care through bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds and timely education.
Maintain clinical practice standards, coordinate documentation, and promote a respectful, inclusive clinical environment.
Lead or participate in performance improvement, research utilization and shared governance initiatives.
Complete professional competency assessments, mandatory education, and population‑specific training.
Serve as a preceptor or mentor for nurses and interdisciplinary staff.
Promote evidence‑based practice, nursing research and data collection, consult experts and utilize resources to address practice questions.
Assist in protocol and procedure development to achieve best‑practice outcomes such as reduced readmission rates and adverse events.
Required Minimum Education:
Associate’s degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (preferred)
Required Minimum Licenses & Certifications:
RN – Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN‑COMPACT (Multi‑state Compact)
BLS – Basic Life Support (or equivalent) at hire
Required Minimum Experience:
Minimum 5 years of registered nurse experience in direct patient care (preferred experience in oncology)
Required Minimum Skills:
Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English
Basic computer skills and technology optimization for clinical care
Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills; excellent customer‑service orientation
Ability to function in a fast‑paced environment and respond to emergencies calmly and decisively
Excellent time‑management, evidence‑based decision making, and critical‑thinking skills
