Infusion RN Virginia Cancer Specialists , an affiliate of McKesson Specialty Health and US Oncology, is seeking a Full Time Infusion RN for our Loudoun office. Under general supervision, this position provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. The role involves recognizing the physical, psychological, and spiritual aspects of care, participating in company‑wide quality initiatives, and supporting the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities

Demonstrate knowledge of age‑specific differences in the patient population, including physiological and developmental differences unique to each group.

Assess and monitor therapy of patients using appropriate technical skills under the direction and supervision of a physician.

Assist physician with exams and procedures.

Maintain efficient and appropriate patient flow.

Demonstrate knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.

Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and maintain central venous access devices and alternate delivery systems.

Document all elements of care.

Communicate all pertinent information and interventions to the physician or mid‑level provider.

Serve as a resource person to medical assistants and LPNs.

Triage patient/family phone calls as needed and document relevant information in the patient’s chart.

Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching.

Demonstrate awareness of community resources and assist with referrals if necessary.

Provide nursing coverage for satellite offices as needed.

Follow OSHA guidelines when handling cytotoxic agents, biohazardous waste, and other materials potentially infected with a blood‑borne pathogen.

Maintain current knowledge of oncology nursing by participating in ongoing educational opportunities.

Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.

Maintain patient confidentiality.

Serve as mentor/preceptor and provide day‑to‑day guidance to less‑experienced nurses.

Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred).

Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience, preferably in an oncology environment.

Current or pending oncology certification preferred.

Experience and knowledge of cancer medication use preferred.

Current RN state license in the state of practice.

Current CPR certification required.
